I just received this note from Betsy and Peter, a wonderful couple with a wonderful story:

We received your beautiful Ketubah and it’s wonderful. Thank you ever so much. Betsy had asked that I write you and provide feedback as to why we chose “non-traditional” artwork for our Ketubah. Maybe it’s because we’re a bit non-traditional (I’m Jewish, Betsy is not). Maybe it’s because of your fabulous uber bokeh-laden macro-photographic masterpieces of nature.

I just love that description of my art! “Fabulous über bokeh-laden macro-photographic masterpieces of nature.” If I was a 60’s rock band, I’d make that the title of my next album.

When Betsy first found your site after we were engaged* a year ago I looked at it and immediatley said, “Perfect”. I looked at the various text options and we both chose the one we did because we felt it said so much about us. That plus choosing one of your many magnificent photographs made it a most wonderful certification of our commitment to one another that we are proud to hang in our home.

You also made a fan of our Rabbi, who was totally blown away and will most likely recommend your site to the many couples who seek him out.

I aslo loved the story of how they got engaged, with its particularly modern twist:

The short story: she and I were best friends in high school but had never dated then lost touch for 39 years. Last year, both divorced, we found one another via Google and the rest is history.

Ah, the romance of the internet! I wish them both all the happiness they can handle and then some.

I always love it when I hear from a bride and groom I made a ketubah for, and learn why they chose one of my designs. Beth and Jeremy, and interfaith and intercultural couple, just wrote me to tell me why the Horizon Ketubah was “perfect” for them:

We can’t thank you enough for making this amazing piece of art for us. When we began looking for a ketubah, we knew we wanted something different. We are an interfaith and intercultural couple and when we came across your website, we knew your designs were perfect for us. Not only did we fall in love with your photography, but we also felt deeply connected to your texts. One of my customers, Joey, just shared this description of why she chose my ketubah for her wedding:

“I have to be honest, I am not a “traditional” girl and that is why I was very drawn to your ketubah. I am an interior designer and so the way something looks is obviously very important to me. I love the simple nature of your work… it was honestly exactly what I was looking for. Something simple, modern and clean.”

My fiance and I looked long and hard to find a Ketubah that spoke to us, as much in the words as in the art. When we received ours last week, we were speechless. Kim and Matthew wrote to me to describe why they chose my Autumn Gold ketubah, and to describe how they customized their interfaith wedding ceremony to fit their personalities:

“One reason we chose your artwork is that my fiancé very much likes Japanese décor. We have created a “flower ceremony” within our ceremony during which we are exchanging five flowers with specific meanings to give each other for the recipe for a great marriage. Specifically, we are using the Lotus Flower because it blooms in tough times, the Lily of the Valley which means happiness, the Chrysanthemum which means love and longevity, the Yellow Rose which means friendship and finally Ivy which means Fidelity. The Japanese Maple Leaf that we found on your website was yet another aspect of the Japanese decor and fit our theme perfectly! The moment we found your website we knew it was perfect.”

“We chose one of your ketubahs… mainly because we did not want a traditional ketubah. We would like to hang the ketubah on the wall in our new house as a piece of art and since my fiancé is not Jewish I wanted him to be able to enjoy it without feeling like it was some sort of religious artifact. Luckily I stumbled upon your website and we were able to get a ketubah that expressed exactly what we wanted to say and was beautiful at the same time.”
